Tim Bubb has served as Licking County Commissioner since January 2005. Commissioner Bubb has been selected by his fellow Commissioners to serve as Board President since August 2005. As Commissioner he is part of a three-person panel that acts in both a legislative and executive capacity for the County Government.
County Government is considered an arm of Ohio State Government. The laws that are enforced locally are enacted by the State Legislature and typically signed by the Governor. Locally, the Board of Commissioners exerts its authority by passing resolutions to take a variety of actions. However, their most important responsibility is to act as the appropriating authority for the wide-ranging County Government, and this is done through the annual budget approval process.
Commissioner Tim Bubb represents the County on the following boards and panels…Chairman of the 2008 County Bicentennial Commission, Planning Commission, Board of Revision, Chairman of the Records Commission, Coshocton-Fairfield-Licking-Perry Solid Waste District, Multi County (Licking, Fairfield, Perry and Hocking) Juvenile Detention Facility, Workenomics, Retention & Expansion Program Interviewer, and as Treasurer of the Heart of Ohio RCD District.
Licking County Departments directly under the authority of the County Commissioners include: Job and Family Services, Child Support Enforcement Agency, Planning, Community, Development and Economic Development, Licking County Area Transportation Study (LCATS), Water and Wastewater, Transit, Information Services, Animal Control, Maintenance, Safety, Litter and Recycling, 911 Emergency Dispatching, EMA and Homeland Security, and Personnel.
In addition the Board of County Commissioners work together with and provide funding for these separately elected county offices: Common Pleas Court with General, Juvenile-Probate and Domestic Divisions, Prosecuting Attorney, Auditor, Engineer, Recorder, Coroner, Treasurer, Sheriff and Clerk of Courts.
The Commissioners maintain a busy full-time schedule, and they meet in public session each Monday and Thursday from 9:30am until 4:30pm. In addition to these formal public meeting sessions, Commissioner Bubb is available to meet constituents either in the office or at other locations during the week. Due to the busy nature of the office he recommends making an appointment to meet as needed.
